Improve Journalism 👀

During these years studying journalism, I realized that the career we are studying should take much less time. That would be the first change I would make to the journalism study program, because there are many years to study a career that has some subjects of “filled”.

In terms of the subjects, many of them has repeated contents, for example, this year in “Estudios Culturales”, the teacher talks about semiology and some texts like “Non-places” by Marc Augé or “Discipline and punish” by Michelle Foucault. Especially this last text, I had to read it at least in four of five subjects and then I question myself, how important is this text to review it so many times? In addition, this is so annoying because none of the teachers update the knowledge or complement it with other authors.

On the other hand, the little use of technology that some teachers make and the not update of this important tool, worries me because today there are some many useful tools to modernize the knowledge, but some teachers still doing classes and test as they were in the last century.

In terms of the teaching methods, I think I’ve had very good teachers, as well as others have been terrible. For example, one the best teachers I have, has been able to keep my attention during the whole class, since it proposed challenges when getting to know new things. But, there are some other teachers that they don’t care about what they teach or how teach it.

In conclusion, I think there are some things that need to be improved, to make this study program a better profession to study.
